Hyundai will charge a $1,750 premium for its new 2014 Equus flagship sedan.
The base price for the Korean luxury car is $61,920 including delivery, which buys you the “Signature” trim. “Ultimate” trim versions carry a $7,000 premium. The 2014 model year brings with it a refreshed version of the Equus that includes a long list of upgrades.
Hyundai made bold claims about the Equus during the New York Auto Show earlier this year, saying it’s the most shopped premium luxury sedan. That claim would put the car above the Audi A8, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and several others.
Among the changes, refreshed 19-inch wheels, a new bumper and an updated grille while LED fog lamps are included as standard equipment. But the majority of tweaks happen inside the car.
New tech features and a redesigned instrument panel are chief among the changes. The shifter, the dashboard, the door panels have all been improved. Shelling out for the “Ultimate” model gets you a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster — a trend seen in other luxury cars including the Jaguar XJ. There are also two 9.2-inch screens for rear passenger entertainment.
But Hyundai hasn’t stopped there. The car’s air suspension has also been massaged to offer a smoother ride and sportier handling. Normal and sport modes allow the driver to pick and choose for a more tailored driving experience.
This is a refresh, and the same 5.0-liter V8 sits under the hood to make 429 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque.
